Location
Mersey River Wind is located high on a rolling plateau above the Mersey River, near the Milton Substation. The site was extensively logged by the now defunct Bowater Mersey Paper Co., leaving regenerating forests and a network of solid access roads.
The project footprint will be relatively small and will not significantly interfere with other uses of Crown land, like forestry. Each turbine will require a total cleared area of approximately one hectare, which includes the foundation, laydown area, and crane pad. Existing roads will be used where possible to reduce the total project footprint.
The precise design, number of turbines, location for the turbines, and roadways will be decided later in the development process, following land control confirmation, environmental considerations, and on-site wind data.
